Here’s our garden shrine - where we gather every Saturday morning to read our morning verse and then do slow walking meditation around the temple garden. Well, that’s how it used to look…
Here’s how it looks now - condemned as unsafe, the beautiful ivy having pressed its green fingers into the cracks for decades and caused absolute havoc.
It’s going to cost £13,000 to rebuild the arch and the surrounding walls and, if we don’t, we won’t just lose a shrine but the whole temple will start slipping down the hill. That might be one quick way to enlightenment…
We do have the money - but it is a big chunk of our total buffer of around 50K. Any money we can raise to help will go towards life at the temple here. Our twice-weekly practice in person & online, our meditation classes and kirtans, our thriving new ministry training programme, our free book groups, our guest room being used right now for a solitary retreat, our eco-activism work including my new daily prayer project, our current ministers who offer chaplaincy in prisons, school visits, Buddhist ceremonies…
If you are able to support the work we all do here, then we would hugely appreciate a donation. Visit this page to donate from wherever you are.
It will make us very happy, and it will also cheer our Buddha up who’s still waiting to be reinstated in their beautifully re-built alcove!
I know that things are tight for lots of people financially - small donations will also be appreciated, and if that’s not possible you could send your blessings instead. And if you’re new here (welcome!) don’t worry, we only ask for donations once or twice a year.
Thank you for listening,
