A Funny Old Job
Online Gathering in a Few Hours & Other Delicacies
Being a Buddhist minister is sometimes a funny old job.
I do it because a spiritual foundation is the one thing that I rely on more than any other, and I want to introduce others to that.
It can be a ‘hard sell’ for all kinds of reasons. People’s lives are already crammed full, people have had bad experiences of spirituality or religion in the past, people encounter themselves in challenging ways once they step onto the spiritual path, people don’t quite resonate with the Bright Earth teachings or sangha, people are nervous about what might be expected of them or what might happen…
Sometimes it’s strange to me that shrine rooms and churches and other spiritual places aren’t overflowing in these difficult times.
Sometimes it’s a wonder to me that anyone makes space for spirituality at all!
So - in the spirit of offering - here are a few delicious things I might tempt you with 😉
In less than a few hours you can join Kaspa’s seminar Three Minds of Awakening (I’ll be there too) to discuss whether or not it matters whether we bring a particular attitude to our spiritual practice. More details and tickets for a donation here.
My practice session from this morning on finding the Dharma everywhere is here - after watching maybe you’ll come along to an online-only practice session live - details here (click on Online Events or In Person Events).
Our colleague Rev Dayamay is running a book group on Saturday evenings on Nagapriya’s lovely book about the Four Noble Truths (7pm UK time) starting in June - limited spaces - details here.
Maybe I’ll see you there!
